Quiet Night Nights"

I just tucked Jonas into bed.
After a few minutes I went back in for my "every 5 minutes" kisses and hugs - I noticed that my little bundle was no longer in his bed, but in the big reading chair. I asked him what he was doing (after snapping the pictures, of course) and he said, "Shhh, Mommy. It is quite night night time".

* Sigh *
And then of course, his spidey senses caught wind of a camera in the room... and *viola* instant cheese.

the pond

There is a little pond right on the main road that leads to the interstate. We pass this pond A LOT. I always think that it would be fun to check it out; there is a gazebo type deck and a couple of little bridges. So, Jonas and I stopped by on the way home from dropping Kent off at the train station. I am so impressed with this little pond!! It is immaculately landscaped... it is beautiful, there is even a waterfall. It is also bigger than it looks from the road.
As I said, Jonas and I stopped to take a nice little walk. Just as we came near the water, a whole formation of geese apparently spotted the water. They made a sudden left turn and headed right for us.

It was so neat to watch them come "sliding" into the water!
Jonas was enthralled with the geese. They were very calm and tolerated us being so close to them.

The pond grounds are so beautiful, I decided I would try to get a few pictures of Jonas with a nice background. Who knows, I thought I might even get one nice enough to share with family and friends...
So, he isn't quite in his GQ posing mood...

So, here it is, folks. This one will be our 2009 Christmas card. You can't wait to get yours, can you?!?!

Jonas' Birthday #3

So, Jonas turned 3 on July 12. I am a little behind schedule with the blog... sorry.
These are worth the wait, though!
At least I think so!

Aunt Taryn (aka BooBoo) and Grandma made Jonas this AWESOME "caterputer" cake. Jonas loves the Very Hungry Caterpillar book, so this was super cool!

USA! USA! USA!

This past weekend, when we all celebrated the birth of our great nation, I wanted to patriotically watch sports and cheer for the USA.

I watched Andy Roddick do America proud by giving Roger Federer a real fight at the finals of Wimbledon. I wanted to watch the US National Soccer team compete in the Gold Cup.

So there I sit, in front of my parent’s huge 1,000 inch HD TV, looking for the game.
I search all of the ESPN channels.
ESPN – nope, they are airing the 2009 World Hot Dog Eating Championship. (Really?!)

ESPN2 – nope, NFL Live. (In the off-season?!)
ESPN Classic – nope, they are airing a marathon of the 2008, 2007, and 2006 World Hot Dog Eating Championships. (words fail me . . . )

I finally found the game on Telefutura, a Spanish channel, even though the game was being played in Seattle. And Direct TV had the schedule wrong, so they only aired the second half. Apparently, no English speaking American cares about soccer.

We won 4-0, by the way.
Isn't there an old WWII movie where the US soldiers weed out german spies by asking them questions about baseball, like who played second base for the Brooklyn Dodgers? Although I am pretty sure the Dodgers are now in LA, I could not name a single player on the team. I couldn't even tell you who played in the world series last year. But I could name most of the players for the US national soccer team.
Can I be patriotic, a soccer fan, and disgusted that there is a televised World Hot Dog Eating Championship, all at the same time?
USA! USA! USA! (unless it involves soccer)
